On Sunday, we had one of the most fun events of the week!
The students had a great time at the Pool Party. As always, Course Director and Lifeguard Laine kept a close watch on everyone.
On Thursday night creativity was definitely in the air.
The students created some really stylish clothes that certainly impressed the judges!
Some of the photos were taken by Alexis Schwarz
Last night the students went into the woods and collected some firewood for a campfire. David the SOCAC made a great fire.
We toasted marshmallows on the fire and ate some delicious s’mores. What is a s’more? It’s a toasted marshmallow inside two chocolate biscuits. Seriously delicious.
Some of the students sang – we had Spanish, Russian, French and Italian songs. And lots of English songs from the teachers of course.
Let’s hope we see you next year for another campfire.
Sunday was CAE’s 40th birthday festival. The Social Activity team arranged a great day. Unfortunately the weather was terrible, so it was an indoor festival, but it looks like everyone had a good time.
Tonight we celebrated the end of the first week with our traditional disco, the students enjoyed dancing throughout the evening and continued dancing to the very end. We will celebrate the final week with a closing disco which will be just as good! Hope everyone had an enjoyable evening!
It is only the first Wednesday of the PHC2 course and the students already have a fierce drive to see their respective houses win.
Tonight saw houses both Junior and Senior going head-to-head in a competition of spirit, wits, endurance and tactics with house points on the line along with early bragging rights.
The festivities began with a competition as to who could build the largest and most stable structure using only dry spaghetti and marshmallows!
Next came a more physical altercation… The tug of war, adding a little extra spice to the evening.
The next test, however, eliminated all physicality and individual intelligence relying solely on teamwork and more importantly (using English) communication! The houses were tied together and challenged to move to a specific point as quickly as they could.
Overall the occasion went extremely well, the children and staff all had a passion for their house which will only go stronger in the coming weeks. The cheers and screams from outside as it was going on made me personally extremely jealous that I was here inside with the blog!!!
After an action-packed first full day of English lessons and activities including sports and art, our new students were sorted into their house teams, Orange, Pink and Blue Juniors and Seniors. The houses are a great way of integrating students from different nationalities and allowing them to mix together.
Some friendly rivalry and competition kicked off with the first evening activity, some team challenges run by members of the social activities teams. These included hockey and basketball mini games with Abbie, face painting with David, a ‘guess the song’ music quiz with Colleen, boot camp drills with Billy and fun team challenges with Nathan. The houses all enjoyed cheering their members on and doing their best to score points for their team.
At the end of the evening all of the houses gathered back in the hall where the overall winning house was announced; Blue Juniors!
